| Dry pepper seeds in the oven to give realistic crisps. The longer they are left, the darker they become, ie smoky bacon colour. |
| Tips from Shaun Kemp, Dorchester - Brickwork and/or Roof Tiles |
About Shaun
I discovered the Doll house hobby only a year ago and am now on my 3rd property.
The house i am working on at present has three floors one of which i have decided to convert into a shop. This has involved changing the whole layout inside and out but I am thoroughly enjoyiing the challenge.
I must confess, my best pleasure is furnishing the houses, Hickleton have now made this experience even more enjoyable and as its my birthday next month, I have already put in my orders with friends and family so they know what to get me.

Tip 1
When looking for materials to use as brickwork or roof tiles. Pop to your local DIY store and purchase some self adhesive floor tiles which come in a range of designs and effects.
I bought a pack of red terracotta effect tiles and a pack of grey flagstone effect tiles.
I the cut them into small brick sizes and roof tile sizes and stuck them in place.\
I have had several comments on how realistic they look. |
Tip 2
Some empty cerial packets cut into strips of tiles (approx. measurements of 10mmx15mm per tile).
Then with some help of red spray a touch of gold spray and minimal green spray gives a cheap yet realist look for roof tiles. |
| Tips from Shaun Kemp, Dorchester - Hedging for your dolls house garden |
To great realistic hedging for a dolls house garden use pieces of polystyrene (obtained from packing of electrical goods, toys etc)
Cut the polystyrene into the desired shape (for topiary) and spray with green fleck stone plasti-kote project paint(can be obtained from most DIY stores and good craft shops).

From Cyril Murfitt of Haxby – prefers to use Bostic glue to attach the lighting as he found that the sticky pads dried out due to the heat produced by the lights.
